Real experiences from real travelers
We booked the tour specifically to see the Kochia bushes at Oishi Park and they did not disappoint! The red color was vibrant and we had a perfectly clear view of Mt. Fuji. Our guide was excellent and the bus was very comfortable.
The lavender was in full bloom and smelled amazing. The park is a bit crowded but the view is worth it. The tour also took us to Oshino Hakkai which was lovely. Only 4 stars because traffic back to Tokyo was heavy.
I was worried about the cold, but the winter view is the best! The air was so clear, Fuji looked huge. Oishi Park is peaceful in winter. The tour ran on time and the lunch provided was delicious.
Easy booking process and instant confirmation. The day trip covered everything we wanted to see. Oishi Park is definitely the best photo spot for Fuji. Highly recommend booking the option with lunch.
Saw the moss phlox and then Oishi Park. Very well organized tour. The guide spoke good English and gave us helpful tips for photos. A long day but very convenient compared to taking the train.
We got lucky with the weather. Oishi Park offers a completely unobstructed view of the mountain. The bus was clean and had WiFi. A hassle-free way to see the sights.
Took my parents on this tour. The walking at Oishi Park is on flat paved paths which was great for them. The blueberry ice cream at the park is a must-try!
Even as a local, driving there can be tiring. The bus tour let me relax and enjoy a beer with lunch. Oishi Park is beautiful in any season.
Everything you need to know for your journey
Oishi Park is beautiful year-round, but the most popular times are late June to mid-July for the Lavender Festival and mid-to-late October for the red Kochia (burning bush). Winter offers the clearest views of Mt. Fuji.
Mount Fuji is often shy and can be covered by clouds, especially in summer afternoons. Winter mornings (November to February) offer the highest probability of clear visibility. We cannot guarantee views as they are weather-dependent.
No, entrance to Oishi Park itself is completely free. However, booking a tour includes your transportation and guide services, which simplifies the journey.
The drive from Tokyo/Shinjuku to the Lake Kawaguchiko area typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, though this can vary depending on traffic conditions, especially on weekends.
Yes, the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center within the park has a cafe serving coffee, light meals, and famous blueberry and lavender soft-serve ice cream.
Yes, Oishi Park has flat, paved paths known as the 'Flower Road' that are wheelchair and stroller friendly. The Natural Living Center also has accessible restrooms.
Tours generally run rain or shine. While you may not see the mountain in bad weather, the park's flowers and other stops like Oshino Hakkai are still enjoyable. Check specific cancellation policies for your chosen tour.
Most tours depart from a central meeting point like Shinjuku Station or Tokyo Station to keep costs low and departures timely. Some premium private tours may offer hotel pickup.
Large luggage is usually allowed in the bus storage compartment, but it is best to check the specific policy of your tour operator or travel light for the day trip.
